I specialise in beautiful old carpets and rugs, plus a small collection of 20th century pictures.
The carpets and rugs tend to be older pieces, with natural dyes and a softer pallet. Some of the antique carpets have lived a life and obviously show signs of wear and tear … However, I am as candid as possible when describing their condition and any restoration and cleaning that has taken place, in order to revive them for a new life. (Also I am always happy to leave carpets with a client, to try out in their home).
The paintings and drawings are rather like the carpets … I love them. I have always collected paintings, even before I started buying rugs – some forty years ago. If the look of a picture or carpet gives you pleasure and is affordable, ‘trust your eye’ … go for it!
