Interesting antique fragment
The colours and design suggest this piece is from the Kerman area, in South Persia. Influence of the near by Afshari tribe is seen in the colours. The pattern of botehs is similar to that seen in Paisley shawls and certainly the weavers in the Kerman area moved from shawls back to carpets as the market changed in the 19th century. This carpet was part of a collection from Foothill Abbey Wiltshire. Condition, reduced in length, wear, repairs but still rather beautiful and with a bit of life yet. Size: 14'.7" x 7'.7" (4.40 x 2.30)
