Lucy Harwood estuary scene
Lucy Harwood (1893 - 1973) Here using her favoured portrait format for this charming view of the Blythburgh Estuary Suffolk. A fisherman in the foreground - behind, a family bobbing about in a small dingy - and Harwood uses her familiar black and white birds to draw the eye further into the scene. East Anglian School of Painting, where Harwood studied under Cedric Morris & Lett Haines. (This is part of a small collection bought directly from the artist). Condition is good, if a little dry and in need of a light clean. Oil on canvas 23.5” x 20" in James Bourlet & son frame.
