Ric Hyde 'The Psychiatrist'
Acrylic on board 21.5" x 17.5" circa 1980. Ric Hyde was born in Lewisham London in 1936. At the age of 13 he studied at the Camberwell School of Art. After doing military service in Germany, he returned to London and in 1958 spent two years at the Slade School. Various jobs followed, before he moved to Dartmoor and committed himself to painting. His first exhibition was at the Bramanti Gallery in St James. Hyde's work reflects the influences in his life; as a child - bombed London. The seamy, erotic 1950’s Soho, Cornish rivers and coves and the humour of the Male/Female Maelstrom.
