Michael Leonard 'Girl With a Hairbrush'
Michael Leonard was born in 1933, educated at Stonyhurst Collage, then St Martins School of Art. He worked as an illustrator - before in the early 70’s switching to painting - exhibiting at Fisher Fine Art London. Solo shows followed and a one-man exhibition at the Harriet Griffin Gallery New York. Other shows in Europe and U.S.A. confirmed Leonard’s astonishing ability. This beautiful painting ‘Girl With a Hairbrush’ circa 1988, was painted shortly after Leonard started using Alkyd-oil. His work is held in several museums. The National Portrait Gallery has his splendid 1986 portrait of HM The Queen.
