Ronald Ossory Dunlop 1894-1973. Oil on canvas portrait of a lady, size: 19” x 24.5”. Probably dating from the 1950’s, this work shows to great effect the confidence with which Dunlop handled his paint. Born in Dublin - into an artistic Quaker family Dunlop studied in Manchester, London and Paris and held his first one-man show at the Redfern Gallery in 1928. He exhibited extensively at the Royal Academy, New English Art Club and the various Scottish Academies. His works are held in several public collections including The Tate and the National Portrait Gallery. He lived at Barnham in Sussex.
