Delicious Duncan Grant, portrait of Pat Nelson. This ¾ length oil on board, has the beautiful strong colours - typical of Grant's work and was painted in the late 1940’s. Pat Nelson, a Jamaican, first met Grant in London before the 2nd world war and they were briefly lovers. Nelson endured three years as a prisoner of war in Germany and suffered a nervous breakdown ... putting an end to his hopes of becoming a lawyer. Grant remained a good friend and helped Nelson throughout his life. (Note the Omega workshops scarf draped over Nelson’s shoulder). Condition, is good. Size: 25” x 15”
